Sausalito Food Vendor Composting and Waste Workshop
February 11, 2025 from 9:30-11:30
Spinnaker Banquet Room
There are two major regulations impacting food vendors in Sausalito which are starting to become enforced. The purpose of this workshop is to prepare owners, managers and staff for enforcement, answer questions and create pathways towards compliance.- State mandated SB 1383 requires all businesses to have three stream (recycling, composting and landfill) bins in front of house and back of house. CalRecycle has begun inspections and will continue to into 2025.
- The County mandated Reusable Foodware Ordinance requires all food vendors to have recyclable or compostable packaging for dine in and takeout. The County’s Environmental Health and Human Services Dept is in charge of enforcement and has already begun educational inspections. Future inspections could lead to health code fines.
County staff to present on SB 1383 laws and Reusable Foodware Ordinance, County staff to present information on the Marin Green Business Program and the help they can give, Bay Cities Refuse Service to answer questions as needed.
Vendors who sell compliant compostable and recyclable products will have tables to display their products and to answer any purchasing questions.
