What is SailGP?
Sail Grand Prix is a global racing championship featuring F50 catamarans – technological marvels that can reach speeds of nearly 100 km/h! The Oracle San Francisco SailGP is the fifth event of the 2025 Season. Launched in 2018 by Larry Ellison (Oracle) and sailing icon Russell Coutts, with the goal to make high-speed sailing a worldwide sensation. Witness these foiling boats fly across the water between Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge, a truly breathtaking spectacle.
Understanding the Race:
- Races last approximately 15 minutes, with multiple races per day.
- There are six full time roles on board the F50 - a strategist (technician), driver (helm), wing trimmer, flight controller (responsible for elevation) and two grinders, facing opposite directions. Meet the Teams by clicking here.
- Race Times are 2:30pm - 4:00pm
- Download the SailGP app for behind-the-scenes content.
