Committees

The best way to benefit from membership in the Chamber is to get involved in one of the committees. The following committees meet regularly to advance business and community development work. Participating on one of these committees will help to ensure the success of these programs, as well as promote personal and business growth in the community. There is a committee that meets the interests and talents of nearly every member.

Membership Committee identifies, recruits and educates potential Sausalito Chamber of Commerce members about the products, services and benefits offered by the Chamber and develops membership-serving programs. The Ambassadors from this committee promote the Chamber at special events/community events, greet new members and help the Chamber stay in touch with current members, handle new member follow up and orientation, ribbon cutting ceremonies and member disputes and complaints. Ambassadors are highly visible members who have constant networking opportunities through their involvement.

Governmental Affairs Committee analyzes and discusses pending county and local legislation, solicits involvement from the Chamber membership in the legislative processes as they relate to business; monitors and recommends positions to the Board of Directors regarding local issues; attends City Council and Planning Commission meetings and serves on special committees and task forces.

Sausalito Merchants Committee is made up of member and non-member representatives, mostly from retail businesses. The purpose of the committee is to communicate with each other on issues that affect business, effectively resolve these issues, promote better relations between the City, residents, and businesses, and collectively help promote Sausalito as a wonderful place to both visit and reside. This committee meets monthly.

Marketing & PR Committee enhances communications and marketing efforts to educate the membership of the Chamber, and the community, relative to programs and issues on which the Chamber is representing business. This committee is also responsible for producing the monthly ChamberWaves newsletter, the Membership Directory and other PR/Marketing materials and for securing sponsorships.

Sausalito Waterfront Property Owners Association was formed to better align the efforts of the property owners in the Marinship and all along the waterfront and to represent the owners' interests to the City of Sausalito. As members of the Chamber, the Committee will deal with issues that impact fellow Chamber member property owners and their properties and will promote Chamber membership to their tenants.

Special Programs & Events Committee develops and coordinates events throughout the year as opportunities become apparent, or serves as the Chamber liaison to other organizations that produce community events such as the Winter Holidays, the Chili Cook-off, Jazz By The Bay, the Caledonia Street Faire, Fourth of July, Halloween, the Sausalito Art Festival and more.

State of the City Dinner Committee coordinates the Annual State of the City Dinner held on the first Friday in November. This black tie optional dinner and dance celebration highlights Chamber accomplishments during the year and features the Mayor's State of the City speech. The evenings festivities also include the Sausalito Art Festival community grant awards, a silent auction, live music and revelry.
